Srinagar: The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on Wednesday directed government authorities to place records of selection process of members for the constitution of J&K Commission for Protection of Child Rights. 

The Court of Chief Justice N.Kotiswar Singh and Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi directed the authorities to place the selection records by 27 May.  
“let the records of selection of members be produced by next date of hearing,” court said.

On last hearing court had observed that they are unable to understand why authorities are delaying the constitution of commission for the protection of child rights. 

The court had said, “We are unable to understand as to whether the authorities had really taken any concrete steps or not. We take this matter with utmost seriousness it deserves in view of the important statutory role the Commission plays. 

“Accordingly, we direct that the respondents shall without fail intimate as to the status of the process for appointment of the members of the Committee by the next date failing which, we would be compelled to call the concerned official respondents to remain present in person before this Court to explain before us,” the court had recorded.

Earlier in 2020, Musab Omer had filed a litigation before seeking a constitution of commission for the protection of child rights in Jammu and Kashmir.Through his petition he had invoked court’s jurisdiction to direct authorities for establishment of the commission concerning the plight of children in J&K and Ladakh.
